The historic port city of Mobile, AL, site of the 2007 Gulf Coast Hurricane Conference (L - R) The Honorable John Paul Woodley, Jr., Asst. The strength of the conference was most evident in the technical program, with more than sixty-five state-of-the-art presentations. PIANC is grateful for the superb support provided by the USACE Mobile District. Pictured here are volunteers Susan Rees and Todd Nettles. The inaugural class of PIANC USA Fellows were inducted at the conference. Mr. John Paul Woodley (l) and General Bo Temple (r) presented Robert Nichol and Sandra Knight with their Fellows Medals during a special ceremony. Margaret Davidson, Director of NOAA's Coastal Services Center, gave a fascinating presentation at one of the conferences lunches. Conference attendees enjoying cocktails on the flight deck of the USS Alabama, with a view of the port in the background. The USS Alabama Battleship provided a beautiful backdrop for the conference gala dinner.

The Coastal Restoration Tour followed US Route 90 and gave participants a first hand look at the impact, response and on-going recovery from Hurricane Katrina Participants toured Mobile Bay and the Alabama State Port Authority's facilities on the conference Port Tour. Wynne Fuller, Chief of Operations for USACE Mobile, narrating the Port Tour. Attendees enjoyed the weather and the opportunity to get out on the water to see the port.
